The crossing with the electrically operated passenger cable ferry, which is unique in Europe, offers a special experience. It has been connecting the city center with the forest area “Beyond the Lake” since 1894. The traction current is supplied by an overhead line, making the drive unique and the Straussee ferry a technical monument. The 350 meter long crossing takes about 7 minutes. During this time, up to 100 passengers can enjoy a unique view of the silhouette of Strausberg's old town.
Coffee is always offered for exhausted or chilled passengers, and mulled wine is also available in winter. The Straussee ferry also serves as a branch of the Strausberg registry office and can be hired for wedding ceremonies. It is also available for company trips, private parties and moonlight cruises.
