Oranienburg Palace is considered the oldest baroque palace ensemble in the State of Brandenburg. The Great Elector had built the palace for his first wife, Louise Henriette of Nassau. Starting in 1690, the Great Elector Frederick III chose this palace as his preferred place of residence and seat of prestige. In the context of his coronation - now being the first Prussian King - Frederick III had elaborately expanded and embellished the palace ensemble by the architect Johann Friedrich Eosander. After decades of third-party utilisation, the palace has meanwhile been restored and made accessible in parts to the public.
