The local history museum is dedicated to the history of the town Strausberg from its origins through to the present day. A representative collection of items and documents relating to the local residents’ culture and way of life has been gathered over the course of the town’s history (established in 1908). The exhibition is presented in a building that was built in 1861 and renovated and converted between 1996 and 1999.
The upper floor is home to the museum library, that focusses on newspapers and magazines from Strausberg, local calendars and literature. Reference books about regional history are also provided. Readers who are interested with particular literature are asked to make an appointment.
Tours of the house are also available. The museum is also used as a venue for events and lectures.
