The Peter-Huchel Haus is a museum, memorial and literature centre. This was the home of Peter Huchel, one of the most important German poets of the 20th century. Peter Huchel was formerly the editor-in-chief of "Sinn und Form", the magazine of the Berlin Academy of Arts, which was based in the building. The memorial features a permanent exhibition on the life and work of the poet Peter Huchel. The display cabinets showcase originals from Huchel's work library, as well as individual exhibits, including his notebook or the reading copies of his own works, which Huchel carried on his reading trips. The house is currently also a literature centre and regularly hosts readings and literary events. The list of well-known German writers who have stayed here is long: Wolf Biermann, Herta Müller and Durs Grünbein, among others, have all visited Peter Huchel’s house in Wilhelmshorst.
