The village church in Mahlow is located at the historic heart of the village, which now belongs to the municipality of Blankenfelde-Mahlow. It is one of a long list of sacred buildings that have characterised the villages in the Fläming region since the thirteenth century. One particularity in Mahlow is the church's continuous border wall and the two distinctive access doors to the churchyard.
In the eighteenth century the church was extensively renovated and rebuilt, which is why the portal on its southern side, topped with a bull’s eye, is evidently of Baroque origin. The church’s pretty interior also dates back to the time of the renovation in the eighteenth century.
Mahlow village church shared the fate of most small village churches in the area and, after decades of neglect, the church was so dilapidated that it had to closed to the public. Extensive restoration work was carried out in 2004.
