The sandman themed path takes children and adults on a journey into the forest wonder world of the sandman poet Walter Krumbach. It has a length of three kilometres, running from the Borstel kindergarten on Walter-Krumbach-Weg to Krumbach's former home on Hirschweg.
In Groß Schönebeck the sandman even has his own letterbox. It is located on the 350-square metre mural called "Waldwunderwelt des Walter Krumbach" (forest wonder world of Walter Krumbach) at 10 Schlufter Strasse in 16244 Schorfheide. Children can post their dream pictures (including address!) to the sandman and the sandman editorial team of the rbb will reply.
Walter Krumbach was one of the most successful children's books authors in the GDR. And you can still hear his sandman song in the reunited Germany (to the music of Wolfgang Richter) every evening on rbb, mdr and Kika. He wrote some 500 lyrics for the GDR television evening greeting as well as numerous songs and many lyrics for "Meister Nadelöhr", "Meister Briefmarke" and "Frau Puppendoktor Pille". His lyrics shaped such characters as "Herr Fuchs" and "Frau Elster" and many other fairy tale forest figures.
Volunteers of the Groß Schönebeck citizens association take care of the trail. You can read about the individual stations on the association's website or listen to the audio.
