The church has been a daughter church to Markau since 1381. In 1659, Ehrenreich von Bredow bought the rights of patronage for Markee and Markau from the Brandenburg Cathedral Chapter. The valuable interior fittings and the building itself were renovated several times. The half-timbered church dating from 1697 has an alter chancel with galleries dating from 1704, a retable dating from the second half of the 16th century and a floating baptismal angel from the 17th century.
The colours and rich decoration lend this little church its special character. The crypt of Heinrich Friedrich von Bredow was built in 1866.
