There was already an early Gothic church in this location in the 13th century. Over the centuries, only the broad tower with its impressive foundations has been preserved from this field stone construction. Today, it nestles against the Classicist-style nave construction from 1812, which is plastered in warm yellow tones. The new building became necessary because the church with the exception of the tower had been destroyed during a fire in the town in 1801. When entering the main part of the church, visitors immediately notice the expansive starred ceiling. The church also possesses a chalice from the Cistercian monastery, which was on the site up until the Reformation. The chalice has been loaned to the cathedral museum in Brandenburg. The organ dates from 1987 and was built by the company Fahlberg based in Eberswalde. Pipe material from the previous organ was integrated into it.

The church is part of “Open Church” initiative and can be visited from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The key can also be picked up from the rectory at Kirchplatz 8, telephone +49 3307 2646.
