Also known as the “Wendish Church”, the minster is part of the former Franciscan monastery dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. The oldest building in Cottbus, it houses an important
testimonial to the city‘s history – the tomb of the city‘s founder and his wife. The crab depicted on the tombstone remains the city‘s emblem to this day. Another noteworthy sight is a historically important crucifix dating from the 15th century. The cloistered courtyard of the medieval Franciscan monastery can still be identified today. Situated amidst beautiful mature trees
between minster and the city wall, the monastery square is an idyllic and romantic location.
Concerts take place in the church on almost every first Friday of the month. Tickets at 0355 75 42 444. Guided tours of the church can be booked directly at the church office.
