‘The Children of Golzow’ Film Museum

The long-term documentation ‘The Children of Golzow’ makes the history between 1961 and 2007 with its radical changes come alive. The film museum is home to an exhibition about this unique film chronicle.

One of the world's longest film documentation projects started in 1961, when girls and boys from the village Golzow in the Oderbruch started school. It continued until 2005, capturing everyday life in the GDR, in the time of the reunification and beyond. 19 films with 18 individual portraits tell stories of dreams, successes, disappointments, worries and not least of happy and tragic events. The museum reopened in 2008 after it had been redesigned. Visitors can learn about the biographies of the characters in the films and about stories that are not told in the films. There are photos, documents, letters, and the original cutting tables of authors Winfried and Barbara Junge. Visitors can also see and buy all the films. In addition to this, the museum is home to hundreds of rolls of unpublished film material that is being reviewed and processed for the chronicle.
