Gutspark Dahlewitz park

The 7.4 hectare park laid out in the 19th century belonged to the adjacent manor, which in its present structure dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. In Dahlewitz itself, however, there is already evidence of a manor seat at the beginning of the 15th century. The development of the park dates back to the middle of the 19th century. For 1869 an engraving is documented, which already shows the park in its later extension, however, still without the ponds and water installations. Around 1900, the park was characterized by the Lenné-Meyer school of park design.
After 1945, the park was spared from the division of land in the context of the land reform, and in 1951 it was transferred to municipal ownership. Since the end of the 1980s, Dahlewitz residents have made efforts to preserve the park and started the partial restoration with voluntary work, which could be further advanced from the mid-1990s onwards with the help of subsidies from the district and the state. Within the framework of compensation and replacement measures for the construction of the Berlin-Brandenburg airport, extensive measures for the restoration of the estate park could finally be carried out from 2009 to 2011 according to historical models.

Old visual axes within the park, but also to the water tower and the surrounding landscape, were restored by cutting them free. However, an essential goal of the restoration as a park was that, in addition to the historical reference and the preservation of the valuable old tree population, the structures that have developed in the park up to the present day were also taken up and the special features and valuable habitat functions for the flora and fauna were worked out.

The standing and lying deadwood present throughout the park is of great importance to the park as a habitat for the protected species found here and should be preserved as much as possible. Also, the eastern portions of the park with their extensive woody growth would remain laAbsargely untouched as habitat for a wide variety of wildlife and bird species.
