The Evangelical Church Herzfelde is one of the oldest buildings in the village center and was built in 1242 as an early Gothic fortified church made of granite blocks. Particularly impressive is the striking bell tower with walls almost two meters thick, which underlines the fortified nature of the building.
Inside the church there is an organ from 1868, made by the Berlin organ builder Ferdinand Dinse, as well as a late Romanesque baptismal font made of limestone, which is dated to the 12th or 13th century. Rebuilt and renovated several times, most recently between 1901 and 1904, the church combines various historical construction phases and remains an important monument to regional history.
