BEAUTY OAK combines the love of nature and the individuality of each person with sustainable design and local craftsmanship. In the studio with workshop and store space in Woltersdorf on the southeastern outskirts of Berlin, unique textile items are handmade from discarded clothing and certified organic fabrics.
The collection includes high-quality processed clothing, accessories and home textiles. The atelier wants to contribute to minimizing the mountains of clothing waste and create a new awareness for the appreciation of craftsmanship and environmental resources. The responsible and environmentally friendly use of resources as well as the return of sorted out clothing into the recycling cycle are the focus for us.
The supposed textile waste is given new life and a new chance for value. The materials used for this come either from private clothing donations or from the cooperation with the Textilhafen Berlin. Among other things, the textiles are professionally and carefully cleaned in a laundry. After unraveling the seams, they are now prepared for further processing.
The inspiration for the actual design idea comes from the respective material available and its quantity, so that the design of the cuts, silhouettes and colors is adapted to it. The fabric scraps produced during cutting are also put to further use by being used as material for appliqués on garments or for small accessories and home textiles. This reduces waste to almost zero. This slow fashion idea is complemented by the fact that the textiles are sometimes processed on both sides so that they can be worn or used reversibly, giving them a dual function and underlining the sustainability aspect.
In addition to offering unique items and small series, workshops on textile upcycling are also offered.
