Since its almost complete destruction at the end of the Second World War, the reconstruction of St. Mary's Church in Wriezen was completed in spring 2024 after more than 30 years. Wriezen is one of the few towns in the Oderbruch region and is probably most closely associated with the history of this landscape. The tower of the oldest building, St. Mary's Church, is visible from afar for the inhabitants of the Oderbruch and has been renovated, among other things. Directly in front of the church is a market fountain by sculptor Horst Engelhardt (1951-2014). The fountain caused national discussion due to the sometimes provocatively chosen statements.
