Theodor Fontane dedicated a whole chapter of his work ‘Walks through the March of Brandenburg’ to the village Kunersdorf near Wriezen. Prominent sights of the little village in the Oderbruch include the grave colonnades of the von Lestewitz and Itzenplitz families, the castle grounds, the church and the Chamisso Museum in the Muses’ Court that form a unique classicist village ensemble.

The Muses’ Court that was established by the von Friedland ladies used to be a cultural hub of the Mark region. Adalbert von Chamisso wrote his novella ‘Peter Schlemihl's Miraculous Story’ here in 1813. The exhibition in the Muses’ Court is dedicated to the poet’s life and work.

The Chamisso Museum is open at the weekend, and literary and musical events are held on certain days.
