Schloss Wulkow (manor house)

Wulkow comes from a Wendish word meaning “wolf”. Since wolves used to be very common in the forests of Brandenburg, it is not surprising that there are several towns called Wulkow in the east of Brandenburg.
In the town of Wulkow near Neuhardenberg, the castle, which belonged from the13th century onward to the noble von Scharpeloh family and which changed hands frequently up to the Second World War, was used in GDR times as a hospital, refugee home and for training various collectives.

The castle was bought by a family of hoteliers in 1992 and restored at a cost of DM 8 million. They created a hotel with 48 rooms, a restaurant and a range of leisure activities. Located at the edge of the Märkische Schweiz, it can host the most beautiful weddings, with sparkling wine served in the Banqueting Room or the historic Library.
