A wooden chapel previously stood on the site of today's St. George's Church. The chapel was demolished in 1692 due to dilapidation. St. George's Church was built on the site of the demolition in 1696 as a half-timbered building and typical 17th century preaching church. In 1986, after extensive renovation work, St. George's Church was inaugurated as a concert hall; the organ, built by the famous organ builders Sauer, was consecrated in 1988. Today it serves as a venue for concerts and exhibitions.
The Oberbarnimer Kulturverein e.V. offers chamber and organ concerts, song and chanson evenings as well as operetta and musical events in the St. Georg concert hall. There is also cabaret, foyer talks, readings and exhibitions. The concert hall, a half-timbered building with a tower built in 1698, can be visited every day except Fridays.
