The forest education center of the Landesbetrieb Forst Brandenburg was founded in 1978 as the Märkisches Haus des Waldes and is therefore one of the most traditional forest environmental education centers in Germany with a focus on forest education. A forest school is attached to the forest education center and offers forest education activities for different age groups. The aim is to get to know and experience the forest in all its functions and values for people.
As part of the operations center of the Brandenburg Forestry Agency, the Forest Education Center is the responsibility of the Oberförsterei Königs Wusterhausen and is the deployment site for the Voluntary Ecological Year and the Federal Volunteer Service. All forest educational events must be booked in advance.
A 2 km long forest trail, which can also be used as a forest rally tour, begins and ends at the house.
