The Kalksee is located between Rüdersdorf and Woltersdorf. It takes its name from the occurrence of limestone, which is unusual for the region. The elongated lake is two kilometres long and ten metres deep in places. Berliners in particular discovered the clean water of the lake for themselves at the beginning of the 20th century: a large open-air swimming centre was established on the eastern shore of the lake.
The Kalksee bathing area is located at the northern end of the lake. Here, bathers can enjoy a simple, large sunbathing lawn with large shady trees. The bathing area is located between the Woltersdorf lock and the museum park in Rüdersdorf - ideal for a refreshing stopover when visiting the sights.
