Galleries & studios

Caputh-based artist Thomas Kahlau has been painting with his mouth since 1978. Paralysed by an accident in his childhood, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the German Association of Mouth and Foot-Painting Artists e.V. (VDMK) in the 1980s and now works in his own studio in Caputh.
The artist exhibits his paintings – predominantly portraits and landscapes – in solo and group exhibitions all over the world, with a focus on Brandenburg and East Germany. Owing to his special painting technique, Thomas Kahlau uses liquid acrylic, watercolour and water-soluble oil paints in particular. The artist also demonstrates his techniques and tools at public events.

Visits to his studio with a presentation of his work is possible by pre-booking. Further information on his works of art, exhibitions and dates can be found on the artist's website.
