Museums

‘Delicious beer is made here,’ wrote mayor Jacob Lotichius in 1679, referring to one of the town’s most important areas of business. At the Brewery Museum in the Ratskeller of Altes Rathaus that opened in 2014, the citizens of Fürstenwalde and their guests can learn about the history of Fürstenwalde’s breweries whose influence reached as far as Japan.

Fascinating evidence of many centuries of beer history in Fürstenwalde can be admired here. Learn about the founder of the Japanese Sapporo brewery, who learned the art of brewing in Fürstenwalde, or find out how beer from Fürstenwalde gave rise to the innkeeper ‘Krüger Kersten’ from Steinhöfel being hanged in Müncheberg in 1516. Experience how beer is still brewed in accordance with the old traditions at the RHB Rathausbrauerei just next to the museum.

After your tour you can, of course, taste different flavours of the original Fürstenwalder Rathausbräu beer.
