Construction of today’s St Mary’s Church in Beeskow was taken up between 1370 and 1380. Parts of the church were damaged by lighting strike and town fires a number of times. The biggest damage, however, occurred during World War II.

Work to safe the basic substance of the former five-aisle Gothic brick hall church was started in 1976.
The western façade was restored in 1991, and reconstruction of the building began.
The Gothic St Mary’s Church that is visible from afar, regained its original impressive appearance in 2002, when the steeple was replaced.
The church is up to around 60 metres long, 34 metres wide and the west tower is more than 47 metres high at the highest point of the pinnacle.
