This old fieldstone church is located in the centre of the village on a cemetery. It was probably built in the 14th/15th century and is by far the oldest church in the Peitzer Land. It has undergone several alterations over the centuries. The upper part of the tower with its protruding wooden upper floor was probably built in the 16th century. The tower structure suggests that the building was used as a fortified church.
In the Baroque period (17th/18th century) the windows were altered, while the interior was modified around 1980. The galleries were removed and a space for holding services in winter was installed (Winterkirche). The pulpit of the former pulpit altar was repositioned. Three medieval carved figures dating back to the second half of the 15th century were placed in a new shrine, which now serves as an altarpiece.
