Workshop for rural culture in Altranft. The museum showcases the Oderbruch region – its unique water system, its people and its rural culture. Here you can find out about life as it is today and also take a few detours into the past. The historical buildings of the Brandenburg manor farming village showcase rural crafts, and how the village and farming methods have changed over time. The exhibitions primarily give a voice to the local people themselves. Many special events and hands-on events complete the programme.

The exhibition tour begins at the large Altranft manor house which is surrounded by a 19th century landscape garden. The tour uses art, the spoken word and the historical collection to show a landscape. The central exhibit in the permanent exhibition of the gallery is a work of art by Antje Scholz – it is an enormous interlaced work that illustrates the special topography of the Oderbruch region, the flow of the Oder river and the more than 1,000-kilometre long ditch system with pumping stations and weirs. Photographs of people and places from the Oderbruch region, videos and audio stations appeal to the other senses. Other exhibition rooms of the Oderbruch museum showcase small shrines with objects from various cultural heritage sites and a range of historical agricultural objects. The manor house also introduces visitors to the local history, its workshop rooms give children and young people the chance to try their hand at craftsmanship and it invites visitors to explore the historical living quarters and to reinterpret them. If you're not in a rush, you can also spend some time at Altranft to browse and read, because the workbenches and shelves contain plenty of material on the history of the Oderbruch region and its inhabitants.

The museum reception and the café are in the manor house itself. The complex also features a pretty 18th century church on the village green, a historical fire station, a farmhouse, a smithy and the so-called "Fischerhaus" (fisherman's house).
