Local history parlour - herb garden - antiquarian bookshop
Typical local fishing and tobacco farming tools are shown in an exhibition. The local history parlour is located in the ‘Langes Haus’ building. The former farm workers’ quarters were first mentioned in 1727. Eight families used to occupy the little apartments that are now home to the exhibition. Visitors can enjoy plenty of information about the interesting history of the Cistercian monastery and the village. Local history tours including a visit to the impressive monastery ruin are available subject to prior arrangement.
Behind ‘Langes Haus’ there is a herb garden that is a quiet place to relax and learn about medicinal and kitchen herbs.
Books ranging from classic literature, via murder mysteries, entertaining novels, books for children and young people, through to various non-fiction volumes are available at the antiquarian bookshop in exchange for a donation.
The facility is operated by the association ‘LANGES HAUS ALTFRIEDLAND e.V.’
