At the local history parlour in Grünheide, visitors can learn about the town’s history in a permanent exhibition. A wide range of topics such as fishing, shipping, soil and water, facilities for children and young people, fire fighting, churches and school history are presented with numerous exhibits.
The newly designed Degebrodt room opened in 2011. 25 paintings, personal items and written records by the painter Max Degebrodt (1885 to 1976) are on display here. Other well-known residents of the town are also paid tribute to at the local history parlour. These include the playwright Georg Kaiser (1878 to 1945) and the scientist, resistance fighter and GDR critic Robert Havemann (1919 to 1982) after whom the building is named.
