The idyllic wetlands scenery of Spreewald Forest that resembles a river delta is located 60 kilometres south of Berlin. The lowland with its unique micro climate provides for ideal conditions for whisky and rum to mature. Here, in the picturesque village Schlepzig in the heart of a biosphere reserve, you will find the distillery that was established as ‘Spreewald-Destillerie’ in 2003 and taken over by ‘Spreewood Distillers’ in 2016. It is Brandenburg’s oldest whisky distillery and Germany’s first rye whisky distillery. When Sebastian Brack, Bastian Heuser and Steffen Lohr took over the business in autumn 2016, their dream to have their own spirits manufactory came true at long last. In addition to the multi-award winning STORK CLUB WHISKY, the ‘Spreewood Distillers’ also produce BUTTERBIRD RUM and a small selection of liqueurs and brandies. In 2017, the STORK CLUB RYE WHISKEY won the International Spirits Award (ISW) in the ‘Best Whisky National’ category.
A small but excellent selection of food is served at our cosy courtyard café year round. Here you can enjoy fair trade coffee specialities with organic milk from Gläserne Molkerei Münchehofe, home-made ice cream, freshly baked cake, bockwurst sausages from the local butcher’s shop Fleischer Rösner and crunchy lard sandwiches. You are not going to leave hungry or thirsty! Our courtyard garden and the waterside terrace are open in the summer months, and we also serve beer on tap, cocktails and freshly grilled food. We are looking forward to your visit!
